2. EBSCO INITIATES VISUAL SEARCH
EBSCO now has a visual search mode that allows users to see the relationships among subjects visually. Visual Search allows a user to search efficiently across broad subjects, and then returns a visual map of results, organized by topic. Follow the instructions below to use the new feature.
During this process you will be asked to install Java 2 Runtime Environment Software if it is not already there. You will need to read the license agreement and, if acceptable install, the software in order to be able to
use the visual search function.
1) Select a database from the EBSCO database list and Click on the Continue button.
2) Click on the Visual Search tab on the top of the search screen.
3) Enter a search term in the Find field and click Search. A visual map is presented and contains:
* Circles, which represent categories of results. Categories can include subcategory circles. Click on a circle (category) to explore its contents.
* Squares, which represent links to articles. Click on a square to load the article into this pane.
4) To move back (or up) in the map, click outside of a circle or square. Click on Top to view the entire map.
5) Use the filters at the top of the map to limit or focus information by keyword, date, or publication name. See Help above for additional
information
When you do a basic or advanced search, you will also notice that there are associated topics along the left hand side of the page making it easier to select subjects that may be related to what you are looking for.

4. BUSINESS WEEK SAYS LIBRARIES ARE THE NEXT BEST THING TO AN MBA
A recent Business Week article notes that, "Across the country, public libraries are giving would-be entrepreneurs a helping hand with resources and expert guidance." "The sheer volume of library resources available is staggering. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that many could rival an MBA program in terms of the tools they offer for instruction and information-available for little or no cost."
The article features entrepreneurs who became successful with the help of public librarians and library resources. The full article is available at: http://www.businessweek.com/smallbiz/content/may2006/sb20060525_583430.htm
