TO: WSLS/ISES Administrators & WSLS/ISES Assistant Administrators (as designated in the Delegated Authority Application) and Vendors

FROM: DPI Customer Services

SUBJECT: WSLS / ISES Update

PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ALL STAFF WORKING WITH THE WSLS AND ISES DATA COLLECTIONS.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OCTOBER?

ISES RECORDS DUE EARLIER THIS YEAR, 8 AM OCTOBER 26.

All data including Year End (YE), Discipline, 3rd Friday of September (CD), and Child Count (CC) are to be submitted by 8 AM on October 26, 2015.  This date is earlier than in prior years due to Wisconsin state assessment changes.  Submission of records and correction of errors by the due date is imperative to ensure accuracy of the assessment rosters.

One example of the assessment-driven timeline change is the ACCESS for ELLs ELP assessment. Not only has the assessment moved online, but the vendor has changed as well.  This has necessitated a readjustment of when student roster information (Pre-ID file) is sent to the vendor. There will be limited time to update student information after ISES is closed from October 26-30.  Please keep to the October 26 date for all ISES updates.

CHANGES IN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY DISABILITY:

As of 7/1/ 2015 several important changes were made by the federal Office of Special Education Programs.  Beginning July 1, 2015, the age limits for the Significant Developmental Delay (SDD) disability is changing to age 6 through age 9, and secondary disabilities will no longer be allowed when the primary disability is SDD.  Beginning July 1, 2015, Cognitive Disability (CD) is replaced with Intellectual Disability (ID).

WISEdata CONFERENCE:

The DPI will be hosting its annual WISEdata conference November 12 -13, 2015.  The conference focus is establishing a better understanding of state and federal reporting requirements, including any reporting changes for 2015-2016.
