STEM Grant


The 2007-09 Wisconsin biennial budget contains a new provision for the Department of Public Instruction to provide grants to school districts for science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs. A total of $61,500 is available annually.

Purpose

Under s. 115.28 (46), Stats., the Department of Public Instruction awards grants to school districts to:

  • develop innovative instructional programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics;
  • support pupils who are typically underrepresented in these subjects; and
  • increase the academic achievement of pupils in those subjects.

Eligible Applicants

School districts may submit one or more applications.

Funding Availability

a maximum of $5,000 per application is available.

Grant Period

Grants shll be for the period of July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009.

Application Due Date

Please mail or deliver the original application plust six (6) copies to the attendtion of Sharon Wendt at the Department of Public Instruction. The applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on May 1, 2008.
