Opening Doors Through Integration: An Early Childhood Resource Guide for Teachers of General and Exceptional Education Students. Contact CESA 1 at 800-261-2372. This resource guide assists teachers and program administrators in designing early childhood programs that meet the educational needs of all children within a framework of developmentally appropriate practices. Integration of children with special needs is described through this guide as a natural extension of an already existing program. Topics include: rationale for integration, curricular choices, models of integration, instructional strategies, designing the environment, disabilities and adaptations, families, and staff development.

Collaboration: Because It's Good for Children & Families - A Wisconsin Resource Manual. Wisconsin. Department of Public Instruction and Great Lakes Resource Access Project. Fall 1994. This resource guide is designed to assist Head Start programs and local school districts in developing collaborative programming to promote the inclusion of children with disabilities. Topics include: why work together, getting started on collaboration, and opportunities for collaboration in child find, evaluation, planning goals and objectives, placement alternatives, transition, parent partnerships, shared facilities, staff training and other areas.

HI-PREFACE is a curriculum developed for professionals working with deaf and hard of hearing children, ages birth-5, and their families. HI-PREFACE includes:

  1. a parent material which emphasizes using family strengths to assist parents in find and using support resources;
  2. a child material which focuses on auditory skill development and the development of presymbolic, expressive and receptive language skills; and
