Located in Spencer, the Wisconsin center was developed in 1992 in response to the budget constraints of the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) in agricultural education. With the decline in human, financial, and time resources allocated to the FFA from DPI, agricultural instructors statewide decided to form a center to insure continual delivery of the FFA program to students.

Cheryl Zimmerman handles daily office activities under the supervision of a Board of Directors that includes agricultural education instructors from the Wisconsin Association of Agriculture Educators (WAAE) organization.

Wisconsin FFA Center Duties:
Through the FFA executive director, the Center:
  • Supervises, trains, and supports state FFA officers. These officers are role models for FFA members statewide as well as representatives of Wisconsin FFA at many state and national functions. The FFA Center provides the "home base" for officers to report and provides them with necessary information, materials, and contacts to conduct their duties.

  • Coordinates state level conferences (State FFA Convention, Made For Excellence, Half Time, Sectional Leadership Workshops, Greenhand Conferences, State FFA Leadership Camp, etc.). These conferences focus on developing leadership skills, community awareness, communication, and teamwork-- traits that encourage better students, improved communities, and knowledgable citizens.
  • Coordinates, receives, processes, and reports state and national awards, degrees, and reports that provide students & FFA chapters with the opportunity to be recognized for their achievements above the local level. The executive director is assisted by the state executive secretary in judging and processing degrees and proficiency awards.
  • Handles local chapter advisor support/requests for materials to enabling advisors to concentrate on their students. The center does the leg work for their program.
  • Handles public relations and promotion of the Wisconsin FFA Association.
  • Operates the FFA Center including scheduling of FFA camp at Jag Lake, bookkeeping, mailing of newsletters, notices, and supply requests, and other management-type jobs.
