Equipment GrantsNational School Lunch Program - Equipment GrantsAmerican Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance GrantsProgram Description: The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provided a one-time appropriation of $100,000,000 for equipment. Wisconsin was allocated $1,316,711 based on the state's school meals administrative expense allocation. Interested schools applied for this competitive grant administered by the state. This grant was for the purchase of school food service equipment by schools participating in the National School Lunch Program. The overall goal of the grant was to improve the infrastructure in schools while stimulating activity in the economy. Priority was given to schools that have 50 percent or greater students eligible for free and reduced-priced meals. It is the department's intent to hold schools accountable for the funding awarded and to have as much visibility of funding as possible.
Equipment Assistance Grants FY2010Program Description: In accordance with Section 7(a)(2) of the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 (42 U.S.C. 1776(a)(2)), on October 1, 2009, the Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) received a one-time appropriation of $25,000,000 for equipment assistance to eligible school food authorities (SFA) participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Wisconsin received $331,229 of these funds. This one-time appropriation will be used for the purchase of equipment for schools under the jurisdiction of such authorities. Please note that these fiscal year (FY) 2010 NSLP Equipment Assistance Grants are similar in nature to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-5, or ARRA) equipment grants awarded in FY 2009, but should not be confused with them.
