Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program


Program Description: USDA has an agreement with Wisconsin for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. The purpose of the program is to increase fresh fruit and vegetable consumption in elementary schools by providing a snack to all students free of charge. This is a competitive grant that must be applied for annually. The level of funds provided to any one school depends on the enrollment.

Who is Eligible to Apply: Public and non-profit private elementary schools that have 50% or greater of their students receiving free and/or reduced price meals.

Amount of Funds Available: USDA has proposed Wisconsin will receive an allocation of $1,375,327.49 for SY 09-10, based upon approximately $72,500,000 being available nationwide.
