Community Education Makes Things Happen

In today's reality of limited financial resources, tax concerns, competing entities, lack of coordination, and turfism, community education cannot help communities survive, but to thrive doing critical activities that improve and strengthen communities more efficiently.

Here are a few examples of community education making things happen in your community.

  • More volunteers in every classroom
  • Parents more active in their children's school activities
  • Before and after school child care options
  • Pre-school programs for youth 0-5 years old
  • Parenting skill building classes
  • More youth and adults using school buildings
  • GED and diploma programs
  • After school programs for students and tutoring
  • Before school activities and support
  • Saturday and summer enrichments classes for kids
  • Remedial programs for youth after school and summer and weekends
  • Senior citizens becoming active social programs, tutoring, mentoring, and other intergenerational activities
  •  Students serving their communities in service-learning
  •  Adults taking high school classes during the day
  • Community gatherings of adults and youth to solve community problems and address critical
    social issues
  • Service clubs active in the schools and sponsoring youth programs
  • Agencies partnering with schools to offer services

  • Government agencies coordinating with schools to reduce duplications
