Community Education and the Pulaski School District

Philosophy and Goals

Pulaski Community Education is a concept that stresses an expanded role for our public school resources by providing for all of the educational needs of all of its community members. We utilize our school system to serve as a catalyst to bring a positive sense of community, to improve community living and to develop the community process toward the end of self-actualization. Inherent in our philosophy is the belief that the community education programs should reflect the needs and input of the community.

To this end, the goals of Community Education in Pulaski are
  • To integrate community resources into the regular K-12 curriculum
  • To expand the use of facilities for all members of the community
  • To coordinate optional recreational and enrichment activities for community youth
  • To coordinate optional recreational and enrichment activities for adults
  • To facilitate school cooperation and coordination with other community agencies
  • To coordinate the use of school resources to aid in community problem solving and to facilitate community input into this process
  • To coordinate and facilitate inservice programs for community teachers and training activities for community business and industry
