Community Education Tool Kit-Leadership/Accountability


(The Practice of Assessment)

GOAL

A qualified person(s) with training in community education having a work role based on a community education job description. To have a coordinator staff position(s) operating under a school board policy that provides a written job description for the community education coordinator.

Measurement criteria:

  1. school board policy
  2. job description

    • facilitation role
    • assessment, group dynamics, administrative skills (review the mn standards)

Objective: To promote and articulate to the community a knowledge and understanding of community education.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Means used to promote community understanding of community education
    (e.g. inservice, forums, media savvy, newsletters, etc.)
  2. Community council role in awareness
  3. Outside visitations / conferences attendance by community members

Measurement criteria:

  1. school board policy
  2. job description

    • facilitation role
    • assessment, group dynamics, administrative skills (review the mn standards)

Objective: To actively seek community council direction in deterring community education priorities.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Written council minutes with good records of previous activities such as committees and leadership positions
  2. Council Plan of action (annual update)
  3. Coordinator role on the council - facilitator not chair

Measurement criteria:

    • facilitation role
    • assessment, group dynamics, administrative skills (review the mn standards)

Objective: To provide for evaluation of community education staff, program, council and the process.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Organizational evaluation process of coordinator and program (school board awareness)
  2. Community council role / planning process
  3. Written evaluations completed on a regular basis - linked to action plan

Objective: To participate in professional improvement opportunities at the state and national levels.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Number and scope of conferences
  2. Conducting presentations at local /national conferences
  3. Able to support WCEA regional structure 
  4. Guidance for other districts
  5. WCEA/NCEA membership and involvement
