Needs/Resource Assessment and Planning


GOAL

A documented community planning effort involving a cross section of community residents which includes a sequence of needs and resource assessment, goal prioritization, and evaluation

Objective:

To identify the need for educational, recreational, cultural, and social activities and services for all ages. (Pre-school, Elementary—Jr. High—Senior High School,  Young Adults, Adults, and Senior Citizens)

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Frequency of assessment activity (annual, scope, type, target, etc.)

Objective:

To conduct periodic needs assessments based on an identified planning process and one which utilizes broad citizen input.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Written plan of action to conduct needs/resource assessment.
  2. Identification of who designed and implemented the assessments.

Objective:

To identify and assess needs of all population segments.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Documentation of general community demographics contrasted with those targeted for assessment and those who respond.
  2. A planned approach to utilize instruments appropriate to reach target groups intended.

Objective:

To identify community resources and promote cooperative and collaborative interagency endeavors in assessment.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Document availability and scope of resources available to the community.
  2. Identify agency mission or missions.
  3. Identify means and results of collaborative efforts to conduct assessment utilizing other agency resources.

Objective:

To identify and implement priorities based on survey results.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Document priorities identified through assessment results.
  2. Document the citizen involvement process utilized to identify priorities.
  3. Document new or expanded activities and programs implemented based on the assessment results.
