Community Education Tool Kit-Extended Use of School Facilities


GOAL

Public school board of education support for and involvement in development of the local community education plan, including extended us of public school facilities for all citizens.

Objective: To establish School Board Policy which seeks to maximize community use of school facilities for all ages though active promotion, non-restrictive rental fees, and appropriate set of use priorities which best serves the entire community.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. School Board Policy
  2. Facilities Use Policy

Objective: To plan new facilities or modify existing structures which takes into account needs of the entire community.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Document modifications in planning new buildings or remodeling existing structures demonstrating broad citizen input and have related to broad resident use.

Objective: To identify and promote extended use of non-school facilities for the benefit of the entire community.

Measurement Criteria:

  1. Document the existence and availability of non-school facilities for community use.
  2. Community council role is seeking out, coordination use of non-school facilities.
  3. Cooperative use agreements with other organizations and governmental units.
