What's New with WI HOSA

Attention! Wisconsin HOSA needs you to think of a t-shirt design and exchange pin design now. The deadline for submitting your ideas has been extended until December 19. Download the t-shirt form or exchange pin form now. Send your entry forms to Janice Atkinson.

Affiliate your chapter soon. In order to enter competitive events, first semester students must be affiliated by January 1, 2009. Second semester students must be affiliated by March 1, 2009. Once you affiliate, you can add more members at any time. Last year Wisconsin had 886 members, down 17 from the previous year. Let’s build back to that and beyond.

Now is the time for members to start thinking about competitive events. See the brochure that lists the events available in Wisconsin this year. Please note that Extemporaneous Speaking is also a choice. New events may be added for 2010.

On-line testing will take place from March 16-27, 2009. Advisors must email Cheryl Bowes the proctor name and contact information by March 2, 2009. Only the proctors will receive the testing site and password. Be sure to read the event guidelines carefully to see if testing is required prior to competing at state.

Autism Speaks is our community service focus. Nzuekoh Nchinda, the State Special Projects Coordinator, will be contacting chapter representatives to answer questions, give feedback, and determine what is being done around Wisconsin. If you did not attend a leadership lab and would like to be involved, please complete an Autism Speaks contact information card and send the information to Nzuekoh at jnchindapungong@excel.net.

Pictures are needed for the Photo Gallery. Please email pictures of chapter activities to cheryl.bowes@dpi.wi.gov. A photo release form must be sent to Cheryl before pictures can be placed on the web.

Awards and scholarship information is available now so chapters can make plans for involvement during the 2008-2009 school year. Wisconsin HOSA recognizes the recipients from last year. Read all about it in the "Awards & Scholarships" link.
