IMT Member Areas of ResponsibillityThe Instructional Media and Technology Team (IMTT) consists of several consultants in the areas of library, media and technology. Steve Sanders is the director of this team. Education consultants on the team are Nancy Anderson, Stuart Ciske, and Donna Steffan. Operations program associate Amy French and office operations associate Scott Eagleburger complete the team. Following are brief descriptions of the major projects currently ongoing.
ENHANCING EDUCATION THROUGH TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM (EETT)
-- EETT is a federal grant program designed to assist school districts integrate technology into teaching and learning to ensure that all students are technologically literate. Funds
are distributed to schools via competitive and formula grants.
TECHNOLOGY PLANNING & INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY LITERACY STANDARDS -- The IMTT assists in long-range planning for computer education and the integration of computers and other technology into all K-12 disciplines. The team is also responsible for reviewing and evaluating technology plans for the certification now required for state and federal funding programs. It also assists in integrating Wisconsin's Model Academic Standards for Information & Technology Literacy, a compilation of what students need to know and do in the area of information and technology literacy. These standards are designed to become integrated into the core academic disciplines for all students.
DISTANCE LEARNING AND VIRTUAL SCHOOLS -- New technologies now make the sharing of instruction between school buildings or school districts possible. The IMTT can help school districts and regional consortia plan effective use of telecommunications for distance learning.
SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA PROGRAMS -- Consultants provide answers and assistance on a variety of topics, including designing school library media centers; automating library media services center operations; evaluating and planning library media (including instructional technology) services; addressing intellectual freedom concerns, including dealing with challenges to library materials; integrating library, information and computer skills into the curriculum; and developing/reviewing policies, such as copyright and selection of materials.
UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND (E-RATE) -- The Universal Service Fund (E-Rate) program provides discounts for telecommunications, services, wiring infrastructures and Internet access. These discounts range from 20-90% and are available to public and private schools, public libraries and library systems.
