Microsoft Learn

Microsoft Learn provides industry-leading technology skills to help bridge the skills gap. With Microsoft Learn, academic institutions and their educators, students, and staff get digital curriculum and certifications for fundamental technology skills -- as well as courses critical for students to be successful in today’s technologically evolving world.

Within Microsoft Learn, there are two locations where Wisconsin schools can now access expanded resources, Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC), and certification preparation materials.

  • The Microsoft Learn Educator Center is Microsoft’s centralized training and professional development platform for K-12, where educators and school leaders can explore free learning and skills resources and learn about programs, professional development offerings, and Microsoft technologies that advance teaching and learning practices.
  • The Microsoft Learn for Educators (MSLE) program enables teachers to bring Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) and instructor-led training materials into their classrooms. Eligible educators and faculty members at colleges, universities, community colleges, polytechnics, and secondary schools can access Microsoft ready-to-teach curriculum and teaching materials aligned to industry-recognized Microsoft Certifications. These certifications augment a student's existing degree path and validate the skills needed to be successful across a variety of technical careers. Using the content and courseware from Microsoft can free up the educators’ time to focus on what they do best: teach.

What about Microsoft Certification?

Microsoft continues to prioritize school’s missions to help skill the next generation of technology workers. In partnership with Pearson VUE and Certiport, the availability of a portfolio of certification exams across industry-recognized credentials, including Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE), and Advanced Role-Based (ARB) continues to be offered. Although the MSIA program has sunset, the focus more than ever is on assessment and learner outcomes. Which are supported under programs and resources offered through the MS Learn portal platform. Furthermore, there are no changes to certification site licenses or Volume License (VL) certification agreements with Microsoft’s partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

The Microsoft Learn for Educators and Certification programs (formerly MSIA) have been renewed for the 2023-2024 school year. The funding for the renewal has been made possible by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction through the Information Technology Education Grant pursuant to s. 115.455 Wis. Stats. Wisconsin educators will have continuous access to the Microsoft Learn curriculum resources and Certification site licenses for this school year, at no cost. The program benefits include:

  • Microsoft technology and exciting ready to use computer science curriculums;
  • Educator professional development—including instructor lead sessions for Wisconsin DPI educators; and
  • Certiport site licenses.
