PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL DISTRICT STAFF WORKING IN WSLS or ISES

FALL TRAINING REGISTRATION FOR ISES DISCIPLINE, COUNT DATE AND YEAR END

On-line registration is now open for September and October ISES training sessions.

The Discipline training session will be held in 8 CESAs and will provide an overview of the Discipline data submission and review process that is now part of the ISES. Discipline data was previously collected in the School Performance Report and the ESEA Consolidated End of Year Report.

Discipline Training Registration

The Year End and Count Date training session will be held in 4 CESAs and will cover the new requirements for Fall 2007 (2006-07 Year End and 2007-08 Count Date records). This training session is intended for staff members who are familiar with the ISES in order to introduce the changes made for Fall 2007. An on-line training presentation, 'Getting Started with the ISES' will be available later this summer to introduce new staff to the ISES Count Date and Year End collection. When available this presentation will be posted on the ISES Training and Technical Support web page.

PARENTALLY PLACED PRIVATE STUDENTS

Beginning with the 2007-08 school term, report in the WSLS and ISES only parentally-placed private school children with disabilities receiving special education and/or related services pursuant to a services plan that meets IDEA standards. Parentally-placed private school children with disabilities are children with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private, including religious, elementary schools or secondary schools. The elementary grades include students in grades K4 and K5. The secondary grades do not include any education beyond grade 12. The elementary or secondary school may be a day or residential school. Do not include children with disabilities placed in a private school or facility by a public agency as a means of providing special education and related services.

In response to district concerns, we will not require the submission of enrollment records in the WSLS for 'Parentally Placed Private' students for the 2006-07 school term. Note that if 2006-07 enrollment exists in the WSLS, then the associated ISES Year End record for 2006-07 will be required. In the next ISES Collection, Fall 2008, Year End and Count Date records will be expected.

BI-WEEKLY PHONE CONFERENCES

DPI is conducting Phone Conferences to discuss WSLS and ISES topics. The next conference call is scheduled for July 19 to cover ISES Q&A for Discipline. The phone conference will begin at 10:15 AM and conclude no later than noon. For information on joining the conference call, future topics, and notes from previous conferences refer to the Bi-Weekly Phone Conferences web page.
