SUBJECT: Final ISES Data Past Due

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL DISTRICT STAFF WORKING IN WSLS or ISES

The deadline for the Fall 2007 ISES data collection was November 26, 2007. Your district's data is past due. As of 12:30 PM on November 28 your district still had outstanding errors that are preventing your district from submitting your data to DPI.

For the next few days your district will continue to have an opportunity to review and revise your ISES data on-line. The current ISES collection will close with little or no warning, so please ensure that any district data errors are corrected as soon as possible. The majority of districts have 0 to 99 errors and/or unacknowledged warnings messages remaining.

If your district does not correct errors, then DPI may estimate certain data using data available from other collections or other records in order to move the ISES collection process towards completion. The process used will be similar to the one used last fall. Estimation may generate data which is not representative of your district and is not the preferred solution to filling data gaps.

Complete and accurate ISES data are critical to making reliable accountability decisions. Graduation and attendance rates for all students are evaluated at the school and district levels, and used to determine whether or not schools and districts are meeting the state defined criteria as part of adequate yearly progress (AYP). Failure to submit timely and accurate data can also negatively affect your district’s determination level in meeting the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Incomplete or inaccurate ISES data could lead to identification for improvement. For more information about AYP and the graduation and attendance requirements see: http://dpi.wi.gov/oea/acct_sch.html#annualreview.

Your continued cooperation is appreciated. We recognize the difficulty of this task. Please contact the WSLS/ISES helpdesk if you have questions or concerns, via the online Help Desk Expert tool, http://dpi.wi.gov/lbstat/helptool.html or via phone, 800-507-5744.
