2000 LSTA Grant Awards
(January - December, 2000)

Grant award announcements for the 2000 LSTA grant projects were sent out late in 1999 by State Superintendent John T. Benson. Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) program grants totaling $2,696,870 were announced, with the projects to take place from January through December 2000. The Division for Libraries, Technology, and Community Learning administers Wisconsin's yearly LSTA allocation through the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal agency responsible for strengthening museums and libraries. Among the LSTA projects to be funded in 2000 are projects involving technology, delivery service for library materials, digitization of local history materials, and projects to improve services to youth with special needs and youth with disabilities. Projects are taking place in local communities, in public library systems, and on a statewide basis. Hundreds of libraries of all types around the state and the people they serve will benefit from these LSTA funds.
