Early Learning Parent Handouts

These handouts were developed to accompany the program units in the Early Learning Initiative for Wisconsin Public Library publication. However, they can also be used independently of those units. Public libraries and any non-profit agency may make copies of the handouts for free distribution to their patrons or clients. Users are asked to please retain the credit line at the bottom of each handout. Libraries and other agencies are encouraged to put their own local information on the back side of the handouts, most of the handouts are one-sided which makes adding information fairly easy.

These handouts are written at approximately a fourth grade reading level to assist public libraries in their outreach to parents who have low literacy skills. They can of course be used with parents who do not have problems with reading.

Spanish versions of each of the handouts are included to help libraries trying to reach their Hispanic communities. The English and Spanish titles are listed below, however the Spanish versions are entirely in Spanish. A PDF format was used to assure that when the English and Spanish versions were run back to back, they would line up correctly.
