Description: As Laura Ingalls Wilder, I appear dressed in historically accurate clothing, with a basket of photographs, handicrafts, schoolbooks, etc. During the program I touch on many facets of pioneer life, stories from the Little House books, and endeavor to make history come alive for the audience. Having cooked dinner for 40 over an open fire, vacationed in wilderness locations, and even made my own maple syrup, I use my personal experiences to add authenticity to my characterization.
In WWII Memories, I have created a fictional family. I bring my mother's memory box and other visual items. Using her diaries and a script, I take the audience on a simplified overview of the war as experience by the family, with one son going to the Pacific, one to Europe, and my mother working on the "Home Front." Use of historical facts, my travels, and an extensive reading list, I have tried to create a one-hour overview of history, personal experiences, and emotions attached to this extensive event. Again, my goal is to make history alive and personal to the listeners.

All of David's programs are suitable for preschool to senior citizens, reflecting classic folk songs of the human experience, and "heart" of our region. New programs addressing the annual library themes are created each year! Special programs for Christmas, St. Pat's, St. Valentines, Thanksgiving, July 4th, and the classic folk songs for the 60s (Dangerous Folk) are also available. The songs are accompanied on guitar, handmade banjo, concertina, dulcimer, and Native American flute. Programs are tailored for locale, particular themes, and audience mix. David's programs are available year round. Information and recordings of his music are available at his web site.
Performing Area: Open space with electricity available indoors or outdoors (weather permitting) to accommodate a 5 by 10 foot performing area; for historic slide-and-song programs, a room that can be darkened is needed.

Description: The BUG Show is a unique fast-paced, hands-on program that features LIVE bugs and various displays of unusual and spectacular insects from around the world. These and other fun props are used to introduce the audience to the amazing and hidden world of bugs -- "the little things that run the world." LIVE critters typically include mouse-sized hissing roaches, millipedes, tarantulas, and scorpions. During the summer, local butterflies/moths, their caterpillars, and praying mantises are often added to this traveling "Bug Zoo." All species used are harmless. The hands-on and interactive nature of the program, kept lively with humor, fun props, and occasional "surprises," make it especially meaningful and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities. Although the standard show is approximately an hour long, it can be easily adjusted to accommodate the age and size of the audience, as well as the individual needs of each school, library, or organization.
Dr. Bruce Giebink, a.k.a. Bruce The Bug Guy, is a professional entomologist experienced in working with audiences of all ages--especially children--in a variety of settings. For over 10 years, Dr. Giebink and his traveling Bug Zoo and Bug Museum have been reaching out to children of all ages. Dr. Giebink is fully aware of the many myths, misconceptions, and urban legends associated with insects and their kin and does his best to clear up many common misconceptions, such as the belief that all tarantulas are aggressive and deadly venomous. In general, people tend to be most afraid of (or least comfortable around) things they know little about or understand. So, by teaching people (especially children) that not only are most bugs harmless, but that they are an important part of the environment, he's able to dispel some of the fear and anxiety people have toward many insects and spiders.
During the summer, Bruce has extremely limited availability and typically schedules programs within 120 miles of St. Paul only.
Performing Area: Indoors or outdoors (must be in the shade), weather permitting
Requirements: 2-3 8-foot long tables, wireless clip-on microphone for larger audiences, audience preferably seated on the floor with open walkways to let presenter and assistants give everybody the opportunity of a close-up view or touching/handling the critters. Due to the hands-on, interactive nature of the program, library group sizes of 150 or less work best. Auditoriums with built-in seats are fine for a typical slide show, but are less suitable for hands-on, interactive shows.
Fee: Negotiable starting at $250, plus mileage and travel; discounts for multiple and all-day bookings at the same location.
Travel Range: Negotiable, depending on time of year.
June-August: More than 120 miles from St. Paul, multiple or all-day bookings only at the same location or in the same general area.
September-May: Within 120 miles preferred. Travel throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin is possible, although multiple or all-day bookings in the same location or general area are encourage.

Classic cowboy songs, yodeling, trick rope-spinning, and old-fashioned cowboy humor make this family program highly entertaining as well as educational. Western props and costumes set the scene. Ranger Rick's fascinating trick roping is always a big hit, and they are great at getting the kids involved in trying it themselves. Programs usually start with The Ranger doing rope tricks on stilts as "Shortcut Curly," the 8-foot tall lariat-spinning cowpoke. Audience participation is always encouraged. They have recorded 5 albums including a children's album based on their school shows. A 4 1/2-year old fan says, "Cowboy music makes us strong and healthy!"

Description: Bobby Hunt, better know as "Circus Boy," skillfully combines good-natured wit with activities such as balancing atop an 8-foot ladder, audience participation, and mouth juggling--yes, mouth juggling, for a delightful performance that has entertained audiences around the world. Bobby has performed on TNT, CBS, PBS, and "Ripley's Believe It or Not," and opened for such acts as the Beach Boys, Weird Al Yanokovic, and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Bobby's show is a blend of varied talents, including BMX trick bicycling, juggling, and riding the world's smallest bike. Bobby's show is great for all ages and offers several different programs for children, including "School is Cool," an anti-drug program.
