MUSIC FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The holidays are right around the corner. And what would the holidays be like without seasonal music? Regional Library patrons are eligible to benefit from Recordings for Recovery [R4R]. Holiday music can be sent through the mail. R4R is a music library for everyone. Members can select tapes for each order, set up a standing order, or have R4R select tapes for them. The tapes may be kept and enjoyed for up to 60 days. They are then mailed back to R4R "Free Matter for the Blind" using the provided return label.

If interested, you can phone R4R at 1-800-798-1192, to order an information pack that contains a recorded catalog, membership information, and a large print order form. Annual dues are ten dollars [$ 10]. Alternative memberships are available for those who cannot afford the annual fee. If you are already a member, you should order early so you can enjoy the tunes of the season. Have a great musical holiday!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The magazine KIPLINGER'S RETIREMENT REPORT is available on cassette for LBPH patrons. To subscribe, just phone or email the Regional Library.

Gingerbread and Fairy Tales: an Accessible Book List

Aylesworth, Jim. The Gingerbread Man. A traditional version of a tale about a gingerbread man who jumps from the oven and runs away from the little old man and woman of the house because he doesn't want to be their snack. PRINT/BRAILLE. For grades K-3. BR 12030.

Brett, Jan. The Gingerbread Baby. A young boy and his mother bake a gingerbread baby that escapes from their oven and leads a crowd on a chase similar to the one in the familiar tale about a not-so-clever gingerbread man. For grades K-3. Print/braille. BRA 18906.

Gilson, Jamie. Can't Catch Me, I'm the Gingerbread Man. Mitch McDaniel seems to be in the good-luck groove--his horoscope promises a bright future, he's the goalie on a winning hockey team, and his recipe for gingerbread makes him a finalist in a national bake-athon. For grades 5-8. RC 19707.

Lindman, Maj. Snipp, Snapp, Snurr and the Gingerbread. While watching the baker, three little boys fall into the gingerbread batter, and then astonish everyone as they run through town looking like three gingerbread boys. For preschool-grade 2. BRA 06700.

Tews, Susan. The Gingerbread Doll. During the Great Depression, 9-year-old Rebecca moves with her close-knit family into a tarpaper farmhouse in Wisconsin. Instead of the porcelain doll she wanted, her mother surprises her with a thick gingerbread doll under the Christmas tree. For grades 3-6. RCW 352.

Van Woerkum, Dorothy. The Queen Who Couldn't Bake Gingerbread: an adaptation of a German folk tale. King Pilaf of Mulligatawny sets out to find a wife who is wise, beautiful and knows how to bake perfect gingerbread. For grades K-3. RC 08374.
