1. On the road

On Monday, December 10, and Tuesday, December 11, State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster participated in a meeting of the National Board of Advisors for Pre-K Now, a national organization which advocates for high quality prekindergarten programs. Burmaster has served on the Pre-K Now board since its inception. Pre-K Now is supported by The Pew Charitable Trusts and other sponsors, and is a project of the Institute for Educational Leadership.

The state superintendent was in Beloit on Wednesday, December 12, to address educators from around the district who were engaging in a professional development day.

On Sunday, December 16, the state superintendent delivered graduation addresses for two winter commencements at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The assembled graduates were receiving bachelor's or advanced degrees in agricultural and life sciences, business, education, engineering, human ecology, medicine and public health, letters and science, nursing, or pharmacy.
