Charter Schools Conference April 2-4

The sixth annual Wisconsin Charter Schools Conference, co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Charter Schools Association (WCSA) and the Department of Public Instruction, will be held April 2-4 in Appleton.

State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster will keynote the opening session on April 3. More than 40 breakout sessions will offer opportunities to learn about planning, implementing, operating, and authorizing public charter schools. Tours of several of Appleton's 13 charter schools will be conducted during the conference. A special Charter Schools Fair will be held on Sunday afternoon, April 2. The fair is free and open to the public. Several charter schools, along with their students, teachers and charter partners, will be on display at the fair. Schools that are interested in displaying at the fair are invited to contact Tom Sprague, conference planner, at tesprague@yahoo.com.

The conference offers a powerful and stimulating program based on the theme, Growth and sustainability through collaboration and partnerships. Tom Scullen, WCSA President and Appleton's school superintendent, joins State Superintendent Burmaster in inviting parents, teachers, students, school officials, university and community partners, and others interested in charter schools to attend. WCSA members can receive a discount on registration rates by registering before March 1. More information is available at http://www.wicharterschools.org/news.main.cfm?id=83.
