MPS principal receives Leadership Award

Linda Roundtree, former principal of Milwaukee Public Schools’ Brown Street Academy, which was commended during her principalship by the national Blue Ribbon Schools Program, has now been recognized with the Salute to Leadership award on behalf of the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the National Middle School Association, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Roundtree is currently Principal of Hawthorne Elementary School. The Leadership award recognizes Roundtree’s success in meeting the needs of every student by initiating innovative programs for tutoring and dropout prevention, early childhood education, before- and after-school care services and school-based health facilities.

At Brown Street, students’ academic achievement, regardless of ability or background, has improved greatly thanks to Roundtree’s dedication. “This recognition means the world to me. I am so happy to receive the Leadership award, but I am even happier to see how my efforts have improved the academic achievements and lives of the students,” said Roundtree.
