Teachers rate MarcoPolo top online resourceWisconsin teachers named MarcoPolo the top Website for providing free educational materials to use in their Classroom. A recent survey conducted by Edutopia, published by the George Lucas Educational Foundation, also found that teachers named MarcoPolo a top resource for instructional materials. MarcoPolo is a partnership among leading educational organizations and the Verizon foundation. It provides a gateway to seven discipline-specific sites, with resources furnished by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, National Council on Economic Education, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, International Reading Association, National Council of Teachers of English, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the National Geographic Society. MarcoPolo is located at http://www.marcopolo-education.org. Many of these resources are aligned to Wisconsin's Model Academic Standards at the Curriculum Resource Center, http://www2.dpi.state.wi.us/crc. More than 6,400 teachers from Wisconsin have participated in training to use MarcoPolo. Professional development training in using MarcoPolo for Wisconsin teachers, library media specialists and public librarians, is available through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
