3. Two toolkits address adolescent learning, media literacyThe Department of Public Instruction has created or assisted with two new toolkits for educators: one to support adolescent learning and the other to promote media literacy. The DPI's "Adolescent Learning Toolkit" is designed for middle and high school educators and focuses on reading and mathematics. The first section of the toolkit focuses on helping students develop reading skills within the context of the various content areas. The second section addresses helping students develop a mathematical frame of mind and the understanding and reasoning necessary to succeed in college, work, and their personal lives. Each year, members of the State Educational Technology Director's Association (SETDA) meet with representatives of the business community and educational organizations to share resources and create toolkits designed to meet the educational technology needs of educators. SETDA has recently released its latest toolkit, "The Changing Media Landscape: Promoting a Systemic Approach to ICT & Media Fluency." DPI staff assisted in the creation of this resource.
