6. Education calendar highlights

As you plan your lesson calendar and your own professional development, here are some dates to remember—just a sampling of what's available on the Wisconsin Education Calendar at http://dpi.wi.gov/calendar/calendar.aspx. The calendar is continually updated throughout the year.

Thursday, September 16, is Mayflower Day, the anniversary of the departure of the ship Mayflower from Plymouth, England, in 1620.

On Tuesday, September 25, the Instructional Media and Technology Regional Meeting in Rice Lake includes an opportunity to participate in an Intel TEACH to the Future Leadership Forum. Attend with your administrator to promote 21st Century Skills within your school. Visit http://www.dpi.wi.gov/imt/index.html for more information.

The week of October 7-13 is Money Smart Week Wisconsin, sponsored by the Governor's Council on Financial Literacy as a social awareness campaign aimed at improving the financial literacy of Wisconsinites.
