3. Teacher mentoring grants

For the second year, the Department of Public Instruction is providing funds to schools to support the mentoring of initial educators. Applications for the Mentoring Grant for Initial Educators are due November 1.

Every district, private school, or agency which meets the eligibility criteria will receive a fixed amount of funding to support teacher induction, which by law must include a mentoring process.

For more information, look under the heading, "Mentoring Grant for Initial Educators 2007-08" at http://www.dpi.wi.gov/tepdl/iess.html.

The DPI also awards Peer Review and Mentoring grants of up to $25,000 to support mentoring programs on a larger level. This year's deadline has passed, but another competition will commence next summer. Last year's winners can be viewed at http://dpi.wi.gov/tepdl/doc/pmrecip0708.doc.
