5. Petska elected to national special education board

Stephanie Petska, state director of special education at the Department of Public Instruction, has been elected to the national board of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE).

She said, "I am so pleased and grateful to be recognized by my peers and excited for the opportunity to do good work for children and their families as well as the many people that work to support them across the country."

Established in 1938, NASDSE is a not-for-profit organization that promotes and supports education and related services for children and youth with disabilities. The group connects those who develop special education programs with those who plan general curricula.
