5. District wins national award

The Hamilton School District was one of two winners in a national award program recognizing school districts for strategic communication planning.

Along with the Connect-ED Leadership through Communication Award comes $5,000 in scholarship funds for Hamilton students.

Judges specifically commended Hamilton for, among other things, creating genuine synergy between school leaders and public relations staff, articulating the connection between communication and student achievement, and engaging the entire community through innovative practices.

The Connect-ED Leadership through Communication Award, now in its third year, is open to all school districts throughout the United States. It is sponsored in partnership by Connect-ED, a service from The NTI Group, the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), and the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). In addition to Hamilton, the Miami-Dade County Public Schools in Florida was recognized for its communication efforts.

Recipients were chosen by a committee appointed by NSPRA.
