4. Deadline extended: rural awards

The deadline to apply for the Standing Up for Rural Schools, Libraries, and Communities awards from the DPI has been extended to January 18. The awards recognize school-library-community partnerships that advance and celebrate rural life.

"While available public resources are limited, there are no limits on the enthusiasm, drive, and energy that is emanating from rural areas all across the state," writes State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster in her letter inviting nominations.

The program to recognize exemplary work has continued into this, its third year, "because of its great success and the interest generated," writes Burmaster.
