4. KnowHow2Go helps students get to college

To help all Wisconsin students learn about the steps they need to take to prepare for college, education leaders in Wisconsin have joined the national KnowHow2Go campaign.

KnowHow2Go inspires students, primarily low-income and those who would be the first in their family, to attend college. It also appeals to parents and other influencers to take the necessary steps toward preparing these students for post-secondary education.

The Wisconsin initiative launched earlier this school year with a website, KnowHow2GoWisconsin.org, which guides students in grades 8 through 10 through a series of steps in preparing for college. KnowHow2GoWisconsin encourages schools and districts to link to this page from their own websites.

To spread the word to students, English or Spanish brochures may be ordered in the following ways.

For orders of 100 or fewer:

  • Call the U.S. Dept. of Education's Publications Center toll-free at 877-433-7827
  • Order the brochures online at http://edpubs.ed.gov (type KnowHow2GO in the search box)

For orders more than 100:

The national KnowHow2Go campaign is sponsored by the Lumina Foundation for Excellence, the American Council on Education, and The Ad Council. In Wisconsin, the DPI has joined the University of Wisconsin System, the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and the Wisconsin Technical College System to implement the effort.
