4. SERGE (Special Education Resources for General Educators) website

A new on-line resource helps teachers who are not trained in special education work with students who have disabilities.

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) created the site as part of its Special Education Resources for General Educators (SERGE) project.

The new SERGE website provides educators with easy access to information and links to federal and non-profit resources that will help them more effectively address the learning needs of their students with disabilities.

Resources accessed by the site are aligned with standards, previously published under the CCSSO umbrella, titled The Model Standards for Licensing General and Special Education Teachers of Students with Disabilities: A Resource for State Dialogue.

SERGE is funded through a grant from the MetLife Foundation and completed by another project of the CCSSO, the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC).
