2. Learn & Serve America grants available

School districts have until June 6 to apply for 2008-09 Learn & Serve America grants.

Learn & Serve America provides up to $20,000 to local educational agencies, or a consortium of local educational agencies, to foster service-learning activities. The program defines service-learning as meaningful community service combined with a formal educational curriculum and structured time for participants to reflect on their service experience.

Grants are awarded by the DPI, for planning, implementation, or institutionalization of service-learning in schools.
