CHANGES FOR 2007-2008:

Child Count Date: October 1, 2007

In an effort to consolidate data collection systems and eliminate duplication of data collection efforts within local educational agencies (LEAs), data elements previously collected through the PI-2197 Federal Student Data application, commonly known as Child Count, will be fully integrated into the Individual Student Enrollment System (ISES) beginning with the 2007-08 school year.

The special education team collects and processes data on students in special education programs in response to federal requirements. This includes the unduplicated child count, implementation of FAPE report, the student exiting report, the discipline and the personnel reports. Data from the child count report generates funds for Wisconsin under the IDEA and PL 99-457 Preschool grant programs. Statistics generated from state and federal data collections form the basis of the annual data reports submitted to the USDE Office of Special Education Programs for the Annual Report to Congress.
