Blueprints for Success: Instructional Strategies to Promote Appropriate Student BehaviorsThis project was a cooperative effort between the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (WDPI) and Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) 12 through an IDEA Discretionary Grant #2003-9912-19. The intent was to identify common school behaviors and suggest instructional interventions and consequences tied to the function of the student’s behavior. Project facilitators - Dr. Rick Van Acker (University of Illinois-Chicago), Tom Potterton (CESA 12) and Lynn Boreson (WDPI) — worked with classroom and program support teachers in the area of emotional behavioral disabilities (EBD). Thirteen behaviors were identified and charts — or blueprints — developed for the most commonly occurring functions of each behavior. Instructional strategies for both the appropriate and inappropriate behaviors are included, as are instructional consequences. You are encouraged to read the introduction and overview before using the blueprints. The entire package
