Step 8: Make the Commitment

An improvement plan on paper is just that - just a piece of paper. It's up to the school improvement team and others in the school community to make the commitment.

Some ways that the commitment can be demonstrated include:

  • School improvement team members and others sign the improvement plan that states their agreement to work toward fulfilling the strategies outline.
  • School board adopts the improvement plan.
  • Incentives are built into the plan rewarding staff once the goals are reached.
  • Professional development opportunities are provided that are coordinated to the school's improvement goals.
  • Regular or periodic meetings are held to discuss progress toward the goal and the success of various strategies.
