During the transition period to new accountability measures required by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) the following Title III accountability requirements still apply.
If a district was implementing an improvement plan or other intervention in 2015-16 as a result of missing AMAOs for two or more consecutive years:
- Continue with implementing the improvement plan or other interventions.
- The improvement plan should specifically address the factors that preventing the district from meeting the AMAOs.
- Parental notification of district AMAO status is not required.
The Department of Public Instruction will provide technical assistance to districts that miss AMAOs, including consultation related to improvement planning, professional development, and research-based strategies for supporting ELs.
