Today’s definition of College and Career Readiness includes both academic preparedness and social and emotional competence. Since the Academic and Career Planning Initiative goes into effect for all students in grades 6-12 in the 2017-2018 school year, the integration of instruction and practice of social emotional learning competencies within academic and career planning services allows districts to support students’ college and career readiness from a comprehensive perspective. This session will provide a brief review of Academic and Career Planning, a brief reflection of the DPI Social Emotional Learning Competencies for Grades PK-12, and examples of how ACP/SEL integration looks at the local level.
