Jacqueline Rivest, Technology Integrator, West Allis/West Milwaukee SD

It’s never too early to begin career exploration with elementary students. The West Allis West Milwaukee School District has successfully developed inquiry driven project based career exploration units addressing the many aspects of Academic and Career Planning by incorporating career exploration units into the curriculum at an elementary school. The presenters will share resources for career exploration, include ideas for bringing in professionals for a career fair, ways in which extracurricular clubs can employability skills in the future workforce, and have examples of student work to illustrate the process. The project-based learning assessments covered in this session includes the following aspects of ACP: identifying individual needs and wants, goal setting, career planning, investigating post-secondary options as related to ACPs.
