CBLE Continuum

Types of CBLEs

A wide array of CBLEs provides students with a continuum of experiences that meet them where they are. This continuum of activities supports the "Know, Explore, Plan, Go" stages of Wisconsin’s ACP process.

Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO)

Definition: Students participate in specific student organizations (DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, and SkillsUSA) that integrate directly with CTE programs to build technical, leadership, and teamwork skills.  

ACP Process: Explore, Plan, Go 

Career Fair

Definition: Students meet with multiple employers and postsecondary training partners to learn about a variety of career paths. 

ACP Process: Know, Explore

Career Mentoring

Definition: Students receive ongoing support and guidance from a career-focused adult on career development activities such as resume reviews, e-portfolios, mock interviews, or networking. 

ACP Process: Plan, Go 

Career-Related Out-of-School Activities

Definition: Students participate in other career-themed clubs and competitions. 

ACP Process: Explore, Plan, Go

Career-Related Project  

Definition: Students work with an industry mentor on a real-world problem.

Career-Related Volunteering or Service Learning

Definition: Students build career skills and awareness while helping others.

Classroom Speaker

Definition: Students engage in their classroom with an employer or industry partner who shares career insights.

Company Tour

Definition: Students (and/or educators) visit a workplace to observe careers in action.

Informational Interview

Definition: Students interview professionals to learn about a career path.

Job Shadow

Definition: A student follows an employee through a typical day to better understand a career of interest.
