Wisconsin Educators Rising

Inspire. Explore. Prepare. WI Educators Rising is the Department of Public Instruction’s local version and state affiliate with Educators Rising – a national organization cultivating aspiring teachers who are passionate about serving their communities. Membership in a professional organization provides resources, a sense of community and belonging, and the opportunity for reciprocal learning. The experience can be brought to students in a curricular, extra-curricular or co-curricular pathway with flexible scheduling to meet the needs of your teacher leader and students. Membership for WI Educators Rising is free. There are no state dues.

This past summer, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction personnel worked with educators across the state to develop a curriculum. WI Educators Rising curriculum is anchored in the national Educators Rising standards and aligned with WI Teacher Standards. Students who successfully complete the curriculum will be identified by the teacher leader for recognition. A certificate of successful completion will be signed by the state superintendent and presented at the WI Educators Rising conference. Those who do not attend the conference will have their certificates sent to their teacher leader for presentation at the local level as determined by the district or school leadership. Curriculum and other resources are available for free on the DPI website at https://dpi.wi.gov/licensing/WI-educators-rising.

The Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) coordinates our annual spring conference, which is scheduled for March 3, 2021. The conference provides a keynote speaker, break-out sessions, a closing session speaker, and local competitions hosted by an institution of higher education (IHE). Educator Preparation Programs will be on hand to provide information on approved programs throughout our great state.
