The state continues to build supportive resources for coaches - instructional, team, and system coaches - to help build up and sustain the collective coaching capacity of the state. In last month’s newsletter, we asked what you want and need as part of your professional learning repertoire. If you didn’t have a chance to add your voice, the invitation is still open. There’s still time to complete a brief survey about your professional learning needs.
In reviewing the data that has come in, overwhelmingly, there is a need for additional asynchronous online learning. We hear you loud and clear! We are in the process of co-creating a virtual learning series that supports coaches’ growth related to the coaching competencies.
The Coaching Competency Practice Profile is Wisconsin’s definition of coaching. The document contains several core competencies that Wisconsin has identified as crucial components that excellent educational coaches need to possess. The brief (5-7 minutes) modules will break down each competency through stories and examples from real life coaching situations that coaches can access at any time and any place!
This is where you come in. We’ve created a prototype to get us started. But, we need the voices of coaches across the state to ensure we get it right! You get a FRONT ROW and a SNEAK PEAK of the modules in action and then have the opportunity to give us your feedback and input.
When you follow the link to the CCPP Module Prototype, you will find two modules:
- Module 1 - Introduction – You will meet the virtual coach, CC. In this module, CC orients you to the learning and gives you a technical tour of the learning platform.
- Module 2 - Reflective Practice – You will see one of the stories that represent the competency of reflective practice. Only “door #1” is built out at this time.
Ultimately, each module will have 2 or three different stories you can follow. It will be a little like a “choose your own adventure book” like when we were kids!
Remember, these are still in draft form, and you’re only viewing a small portion of what will become a series of stories. We still have lots of work to do to smooth them out and ultimately incorporate your input into the final product!
So, if you think you’re ready to join the work, we invite your voice. Your feedback and input is crucial in this collaborative build!
