Come Along on Government Day!

Wednesday, March 17, 2021

Connecting virtually, while not easy, has opened up opportunities for students. Good ones. Take Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Government Day. Usually CTSO officers come in person to the state capital, meet with their legislators and each other, and tour the Capitol Building. This year, the CTSO state advisors arranged a virtual Government Day on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, and, through the CTSO officers’ recorded debriefing, we get to experience Government Day, too!

More than 50 officers from six CTSOs had an opportunity to talk with their legislators about the benefits of CTSOs, how they are making a difference in their community, the importance of career and technical education, and the benefits of work-based learning, among other topics. They learned about citizenship, teamwork, and other leadership skills that will help them graduate from high school ready for both college and careers.

The six career and technical student organizations whose officers attended were DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, and SkillsUSA.
