Event Description

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School Observance Day to honor the civil rights leader, minister, and winner of the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize. Born in Atlanta, GA, on January 15, 1929; assassinated April 4, 1968. The federal holiday is celebrated on the third Monday in January.

Enacted May 3, 1976, from the 1975 Laws of Wisconsin, Chapter 219.
