Event Description

During this second session of the Leading for Learning Series, Angela Freese will help school and district teams answer the second critical question of professional learning communities (PLCs): How do we know they are learning it? The session will guide teams through the process of utilizing team-created assessments to ensure that students are meeting the rigorous learning expectations of the guaranteed and viable curriculum. Syllabus:

  • Making the connections between essential standards, assessment, instruction, and intervention
  • Understanding how to use assessments effectively through strategic assessment
  • Focusing on evidence using formative and summative assessments
  • Developing a learning progression for essential standards and methods of assessment

Angela Freese is an author and speaker with expertise in assessment, leadership, system improvement, and strategic planning. Most recently, Angela served as a director of research, assessment, and accountability, as well as a director of learning analytics and systems improvements for school districts in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
