Event Description

During this third session of the Leading for Learning Series, Dr. Muhammad will help school and district teams answer the first critical question of professional learning communities (PLCs): What do we expect students to learn? The session will guide teams through the process of developing a healthy school culture that builds and holds students and staff accountable for rigorous learning expectations for all students. Syllabus:

  • Differentiating between healthy and toxic school cultures
  • Exploring the sociological issues that affect student learning
  • Using practical strategies to eliminate staff division
  • Developing the roles of teachers and school leaders within a loose/tight school culture

Dr. Muhammad is recognized as one of the field’s leading experts in the areas of school culture and organizational climate. A practitioner for nearly 20 years, he has served as a middle school teacher, assistant principal, and principal, and as a high school principal.
