Introduction to Mentoring Essentials

The first in a series of mentor training resources. The completion of this one day, facilitated training curriculum qualifies teacher mentors to provide induction support to new-to profession and new-to-district teachers as required in Wis. Administrative Code sec. PI 34 . It was developed collaboratively with CESA staff and practicing teacher mentors.

Introduction to Mentoring Essentials training is available at your local CESA (contact your local CESA for available dates) or districts may use the materials to conduct training locally.

Questions related to the materials and their use, contact Kris Joannes at khjoannes@wisc.edu.

Professional Conversations

The approach to and language used in mentoring conversations can foster trust and support learning-centered environments! Professional Conversations module provides mentors with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to support beginning teacher growth through ongoing, formative, instructionally-focused feedback. It can be used as a facilitated or self-guided training for new and practicing teacher mentors.
