Licensure Change Impacts Peer Review & Mentoring Grant Plans for 2017-18

Tuesday, November 7, 2017

The changes to licensure in the 2017-19 Wisconsin State Budget have implications for the submitted program plans for the 2017-18 Peer Review and Mentoring Grant (PRMG). The PRMG was designed to provide many kinds of support to initial educators, including support for licensure and the Professional Development Plan (PDP). Many 2017-18 PRMG awardees included support for licensure, particularly the PDP, in their program plans. However, the introduction of lifetime licensure in Wisconsin eliminates the PDP requirement and may have other effects on PI 34 - the Wisconsin administrative code governing licensure rules. (See the DPI Teacher Education, Professional Development, and Licensure updates for more information.)

The EDS team recommends awardees whom originally outlined plans to support licensure and PDP processes make a budget adjustment to their grant to reallocate any funds to other items or new activities. Awardees interested in making such an adjustment should contact Jackie Abel (jacqueline.abel@dpi.wi.gov) for support.
