Event Description

Water health and forest ecosystems go hand-in-hand, and school forests provide many opportunities for engaging students in learning about their environment. Whether in urban environments or the north woods, water is directly linked to trees and forests. Join LEAF to become inspired to teach about water at your school forest, or other local site as we explore forest connections to water health from an individual tree to a watershed scale.

Participants will receive an overview of a variety of resources and curricula, including the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Project Learning Tree, LEAF, and the UWSP Center for Land Use Education. Participants will visit water and forest resources on the Menominee Reservation and also learn how to operate an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to check out the structures and life below the surface!
